Ice Cave Adventure, Eisriesenwelt

The ancient ice caves are situated on the road to Salzburg – a 60-minute drive from the CLC Alpine Centre Austria, in Eisriesenwelt. These impressive caves, home to the largest ice cave in the world, were first discovered in the late 19th century by explorer, Anton Posselt, and are now one of the most famous attractions in Austria.

Visitors to these enormous, yet intricate ice formations must climb 134 metres to reach the top of the caves. Heavy shoes and warm clothing are recommended. Even in summer the temperature is usually below freezing. Lamps are handed out at the entrance to the cave, and during the tour, additional magnesium lighting highlights the ice sculptures to great effect. The cave itself is a national monument and may only be entered with authorised guides. Great fun for all the family.

Swarovski Crystal Worlds

Swarovski Kristallwelten is located in Wattens, just 75 miles from CLC Alpine Centre.

Built in 1995 to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Swarovski crystal company, the Kristallwelten consists of a fantasy garden and vast chambers with artworks, sculptures and treasures.

On arrival visitors are greeted by the sight of a giant’s head with illuminated crystal eyes, which change colour, and a waterfall pouring out of his gaping mouth. The giant guards the entrance to the underground world where the crystal craftsmanship of the world-famous Swarovski company is celebrated by fantastical works of modern art.

The 14 chambers combine light, sound and modern art. See the Taj Mahal, the Empire State Building and an Egyptian pyramid in pure Swarovski crystal or explore the beautiful gardens with intricate maze, as the waterfall gushes from the giant’s mouth.
